Drifting music has no clear destination. Loose tempos, sustained pads, glassy textures, and arrangements that fade and re-emerge without traditional verse-chorus structure create a sense of weightless motion.

For content creators, drifting tracks fit dream-sequence visuals, ambient-style art-process videos, travel timelapses (especially water, clouds, deserts), philosophical voice-over essays, and meditation-adjacent content that wants to be more atmospheric than literal.

It overlaps with the ambient genre but skews slightly more melodic, there are still hooks to hold onto, just stretched and softened. Use when you want the viewer's mind to wander productively.
